The death of a baby during pregnancy and around the time of birth is devastating for expectant parents. It goes against the natural order and the grief experienced is often unacknowledged and misunderstood. This workshop is aimed at health professionals and volunteers who wish to gain an understanding of the normal reactions to perinatal grief and how contemporary grief theories are weaved into care and support. Development of compassionate and sensitive communication skills will be explored in order to enhance and support couples both in the hospital setting and in the community.
